"Momma Girl"

Dorothy Frances Wilcox

Born
April 20, 1931
Died
January 10, 2006

Hold me not beyond my days
When my spirit would be free,
To pass unto that better life,
To sail on a crystal sea.

Hold me not when I am old
and my future is for naught.
Let me go I pray of thee,
For my battle has been fought.

Won or lost I cannot know
For the smoke has not yet cleared
And I was often left in wonder
For who it was the crowd had cheered

My spirit oft was beaten,
My soul's been slashed and scarred.
My dreams were dashed and ravaged,
And from success I oft seemed barred.

The dust of failure I have tasted
Known the hunger of desire.

Loves were lost to failure,
As my passions burned like fire.

But I've known those other days as well,
When the skies were Oh so blue,
When my heart seemed swelled to bursting,
With a love both kind and true.

I've seen my children grow and bloom
And their children rise as well,
And what their future holds in store,
I surely cannot tell.

Yes there's much I will miss seeing
But that is quite O.K.
For when my days on earth are spent,
I'll just be on my way.

So please gather 'round my litter,
Send me off with verse and song,
For when my race is finished,
I must simply say "So Long."

Welcome!
